Our History

NAES has its roots in the electric power industry. Established in 1980 as a project and construction management firm for four electric utilities, we expanded into providing a variety of other services to the electric utility and private power industries.

1980: NAES is formed by four Northwest electric utilities to provide project management services in support of utility Owners.

1983: NAES expands its business offerings to include maintenance services. This group was subsequently separated into a wholly owned subsidiary named Power Maintenance Resources, Inc. (PMRI).

1986: NAES expands its business offerings to include staffing services.

1987: NAES forms the Power Plant Operations and Support Services Division to provide O&M and support services to the growing independent power movement.

2001: Itochu International Inc. acquires NAES.

2002: NAES acquires TriStar Turbine Technologies, Inc. (TriStar) to provide steam and combustion turbine component repair and refurbishment services.

2003: NAES acquires COSC, a long standing East Coast O&M provider to add presence on the East Coast and broaden its technology, safety, and environmental capabilities.

2003: NAES acquires OSI to enhance its steam and combustion turbine field services.

2004: NAES acquires American Boiler & Chimney Co. (AB&C) to add a major maintenance presence on the East Coast.

2005: NAES announces the formation of NAES Power Contractors (NPC), a combination of PMRI and AB&C, NAES' major maintenance companies, and NAES Turbine Services (NTS), a combination of TriStar and OSI.

2006: NAES, with a history of more then 100 O&M projects of over 27,000 MW, establishes itself as the leading, third-party operator in the generation industry.

2007: NAES acquires Westmoreland Technical Services and incorporates into NAES as NAES Operational Maintenance Services (NOMS).

We continue to look for new opportunities to expand our service offerings and our depth of services.
